Mail status, Profiles and Thumbnails

As you may or may not know, mailing is a little unpredictable at this time. While some mail is getting delivered as intended, other mail is not. One of the big culprits is gmail – that’s right, gmail is not playing nice as of 11:00pm eastern time, today. But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Typically this only lasts for a couple days with a mail system like ours – gmail is basically just making sure we’re not blasting a ton of spam. With our fingers crossed, we hope all is cleared by Tuesday.

If you’re not seeing mail to your email inbox, there is a solution you might want to consider. We’ve built in the option to receive mail ads to your member inbox. Doing so will allow you to avoid any email issue that may be affecting your ability to get active by reading mails. You can change this setting at any time by going to (assuming you’re logged in) ‘Account’ > ‘Account Settings’. There you will see “Email Preferences” to choose your option. Below that you will see a description for each Email Preference – we’re hoping it’s pretty clear.

Now, regarding your member profile, we wanted to share a few tidbits of information. First, these are public profiles. Similar to many other social networks you can have visitors see your profile, including badges you currently hold that day, public comments, avatar, social icons and all that jazz. These visitors do not need to be a ListSurfing member nor logged in to the site. In fact, you can view your own public profile very easily just like a non-logged in visitor would see it. To do so all you have to do is go to http://www.listsurfing.com/profile/YOUR-USERNAME

Lastly, as you may have noticed there are many thumbnails (website preview images) not appearing in both the surf bar, profile pages, and on site pages (such asĀ http://www.listsurfing.com/site/24385). While this may appear to be a bug/issue with our site, it’s actually not related to our development at all. Without getting too detailed, when we first re-launched there were well over 10,000 websites that needed thumbnails to be created. To do that it takes more than a few minutes in fact it’s a somewhat slow process considering how many need and still need thumbnails. You’ll continually see less blank thumbnails over the coming weeks, eventually never seeing them again. That being said, if you don’t see one for your site and would like one created sooner than later, send us a support ticket and we’ll give you priority.
